Quilter's Reflection June 2023

Today I was trying to figure out how many projects I have started or currently working on / partly started. During the school year I don’t have much time for my crafting hobbies – so I put most of it on hold for slow weekends or for break times. I didn’t realize how they were piling up. Here I am supposed to take it easy during summer, then I think about all the projects I need to finish. There is no way I’ll get them all done this summer. I guess- they will just get done – when they get done.    I could definitely not go into business doing this stuff. My attention span – just can’t handle one project at a time – I get bored and have to hop to the next project, or I get afraid that I will forget this super awesome idea – and must get started right away! Maybe I have a problem? lol.   Here is a  list  of my current projects, incomplete projects and projects on hold: 1. Michelle’s Bear Claw Quilt 2. Star Scrappy Quilt 3. Diamonds are fore...

Learning to crochet

Decided to try something new this summer „crochet“. Turns out I am not a natural at this process. Today we made dinosaurs.    The yellow one was the sample to look at and mine is the green one that looks like a blob. We all have to start somewhere. Haha!  Dinosaur pattern with my notes- because I am a total newbie at this. Some extra patterns were also available for other things like a T-Rex. Printable PDF for crochet terms

Fidget Blanket (Nesteldecke) Block 16 Pillow w/ribbon tabs

Making these pieces for Oma Hilde‘s Fidget Blanket / Nesteldecke helped me feel like I could help her through her rough days of dementia- she did seem to enjoy it when ever I placed it in front of her. Each time I showed it to her- it was new all over again. She would state how pretty it was. I miss Oma, but happy that she is in a better place now.  Fidget Blanket Block 16 Pillow w/ribbon tabs  Pinned all the ribbon in place and then sewed them down. These measured at about 7“ each, next time I might make them a little shorter.  Leave an opening and flip inside out- stuff with batting or fabric remnants as needed.  See Oma Hildegard with her completed fidget blanket " here ".
