Turkey Day

I just had to share this post from Kara. I just love how imaginative it is. Someone mentioned turning it into a cartoon, lol. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Black bird quilt block

It was pretty simple to make. Only took me about an hour.

My Beagle has red eyes

My poor Piper looked miserable this morning. As I let her out of her kennel she looked up at me with squinty eyes. She naturally has sad eyes to begin with, but looking at her today broke my heart.  The veterinarian stated she has conjunctivitis (pink eye). Two drops of antibiotics per day have been prescribed. Poor Piper! Learn something new every day.

German Words

"Wolkenkratzer" means Skyscraper but is literally a Cloud Scraper, while "Nilpferd" is a Nile horse but we know it as Hippopotamus...to begin the weekend some other literal German/English translations. To take your mind off those preparations for Thanksgiving/Christmas/the approaching cold, gray, wet winter months etc., for a few minutes. 😎 Die Glühbirne, die Nacktschnecke, the bicycle could also be "drive wheel' from Fahrrad - Fahr Rad, der Stinktier, das Schlagzeug, die Flugabwehr, die Beerdigung and die Antibabypille. Black & White Cookies

I saw these cookies at our local HEB and they made my heart happy. I haven’t seen black and white cookies since I was a kid. A find memory growing up around Klingenberg, Böckingen (Germany) was going to the bakery for sweets. These black and white cookies were one of my favorite treats. I remember them being a little bigger- probably because I was a kid and the were called Amerikaner.  I found a recipe online, haven’t tried it yet. But, I am looking forward to it.

It becomes quite addicting, really.  Within this last year I learned through Gedmatch.com -that my stepdaughters and I are 12th cousins. Which we found really cool- because we all get along nicely. I also learned from an account that I manage that his parents are 3rd cousins. They didn’t know about it, but didn’t seem surprised either.  Then today.... I received an email from a nice lady that goes by the name Jackie, looking for information on her mother’s family tree (do to being adopted out). Well, this lady was a match to me, my kids and grandfather. Not unusual- until you look at the distance. She was a (5th - 8th cousin) to me, my mom, aunt and my grandfather - but a 4th cousin to my daughter Michelle.  Then I realized that the person she was talking about, name Bonke - ...
