Things I want to try in 2020

For the year 2020. I would like to challenge you to join me.  Pick something you would like to accomplish this year, whether it be a quilt, writing Poetry, reading a good book, some crafty handwork.  Whatever it is that will make your heart smile each day as you make progress.  Something that you will look forward to coming to each day.  As for me, I have chosen to  work on the bear claw (remembrance) quilt for my husband.  I would like to make a quilt designed by Katherine Kerr . I would like to at least get halfway through the challenge for 2020 if not all the way.  Participate in a BOM (Block of the month) challenge. Complete the remembrance quilt I started in 2019 for my hubby using the bear paw pattern.  Make a white and turquoise bear paw pattern throw.    One of my favorite blocks right now is the Bear‘s Paw. Bear's Paw block is known by a whole slew of other names including:  Bear's Foot, Chinese Block...

Fatigue & Stress

I take daily supplements to help adapt to daily stressors, have better energy and mood in a healthy way. So my day starts with approximately 7 carbs off the bat. After breakfast it went up to 25 carbs. My daily allowance is supposed to work around 22, but I’m almost in the maintenance phase of where I want to be. Sticking to 22 carbs a day is hard, but not impossible. I will try to do better tomorrow.

Low Carb Snacks

I made this helpful thread to help with healthy snack options. These are mostly low carb snacks, please leave a comment below and let me know what you think. I love hearing back from my readers. Enjoy! Cheese crackers and cucumbers

Barely Barley Blueberry Bread

Here is the link to the recipe " here ". The recipe was super easy to follow. I could not find almond flour in my pantry - so I replaced it with " Low Carb Flour ". I thought it tasted awesome, my husband didn't care for the texture though. (More for me!) I think I will name it "Barely Barely Blueberry Bread". Enjoy!

Cards

Had a small gathering yesterday. We made these adorable floral felt cards: I also made a quick birthday card for my granddaughter Emalynne.

London Stairs Quilt Block

The London Stairs Quilt Block was part of the 364 day quilt challenge by KathrynKerr.com. It’s a pretty simple pattern and easy to put together. Especially for a novice quilter like me.  Here are my other blocks that I had made. Some are better than others: Pin Wheels Quilt Block "here"

I bought a new Sewing Machine

After much research and recommendations from friends. My husband and I went to a local (Killeen Sew & Quilt Store) and decided on a Baby Lock. They offer free classes on how to use the machine if you purchase from them, a $500 shopping spree from Anita Goodesigns ! I’m super excited about getting it next week. Double Four Patch Quilt Block

The double four patch is just that. This block has five tiny four patches within the block. The Four-Patch can also be found in a book titled; “The Romance of the Patchwork Quilt in America”, page 48, No.4. This design is used in many quilts in a variety of shapes and arrangements. It can be versatile with colors and easily fit any theme. It’s not a difficult block.  Links: Four patch pattern Pin Wheels Quilt Block-  http://simplystefaniestuff.blogspot.com/2020/02/pin-wheels-quilt-block.html?m=1

Happy 93rd Birthday Oma Hildegard!

Happy 93rd birthday dear Oma Hildegard, You truly make us better You love us, watch us, and feed us—it’s true We think you’re the greatest , strongest woman and most awesome, too. We wish we could do all that you do for us, like the delicious meals you cook up. We are grateful for you every day and hope that, maybe one day, we can be like you. Here is a poem Oma taught us: Ich Liebe Dich wie Apfelmus so zärtlich wie Spinat. Mein Herz klopft wie ein Pferde Fuß, Nach dir du altes Aas. Love you Oma
