Embroidery Tape

What Kind of Tape Do I Use? If you’re working on a Project with a zipper or one that requires fabric to be placed on the underside of the hoop, the instructions suggest to tape it down. The question then asked by many is “What kind of tape do I use?” Every embroiderer has their favorite type of tape! The list below has been compiled from actual comments. This long list of tapes tells us that there is no right or wrong answer to the question “What kind of tape do I use?” I recommend that you try a few and see what works best for you. I have avoided mentioning brand names as most of the tapes are marketed by several companies. Also, here are some hints when taping: -Use multiple pieces of tape to secure the zipper or piece of fabric -Use pieces that are long enough to secure the zipper of fabric -Tape so that it is not in the path of a stitching line - Washi Tape - A paper crafters tape - Easy to remove Transpor Medical Tape/Surgical Tape/Micropore Tape -Holds tight — Adheres well — Stay...

Ancestry / Genealogy Family Research

Family Genealogist    GEDMatch.com  is my genealogy topic for today. Genealogy is such a fascinating topic! I could talk about it all day long. I have always been a people person from a very young age and always wanted to learn more about people and where they came from, their cultures, why people act the way they do (nature vs. nurture) etc.   Let me get back to my topic….  GEDMatch.com  has been a helpful research tool. I love that it is FREE! It doesn’t cost a dime. GEDmatch is volunteer-run website for people who have already tested their autosomal DNA for genealogical purposes at AncestryDNA, 23andMe, Family Tree DNA, MyHeritage DNA, and some other programs.   I myself have used AncestryDNA, 23andMe and Family Tree DNA. According to 23 & Me I’m 99% European. Here is my French & German breakdown- which I thought was interesting: My 23&Me Report -  http://simplystefaniestuff.blogspot.com/2020/06/my-23-report.html?m=1 I have f...

T-Shirt Quilt Summer Project

Tik tok    My daughter Kirstin dropped off a bag of shirts and kindly asked me to make her a T-shirt quilt. These are all shirts from her previous job a Whataburger -which she loved. Now she has a new job that she also loves.  (Not sure what is going on with my blog right now - but my photos have been disappearing for some reason?) The original Lay-out idea isn’t going to work- here is a rough estimate of my new layout.  Using the other T-shirt parts for borders. My plan is to use as much as the original shirt material as possible.  TikTok part 2 video  ,  TikTok  Ironing and opening seams- spent 3-4 hours working on that today. Took a break and then continued sewing on borders around the T-shirts, still working on those Lay-out ideas.  Completed row one by adding a decorative edging TikTok part 3 video Completed two more rows - re-arranged it all again… Added a few fun patterns in between… was actually fun!! See „ TikTok Part 4 video “ :)...
