My Tula Pink Collection

I love how unique and colorful Tula pink fabric is. I started a small collection from online purchases such as  Missouri Star  Company and  Quilty Box   Unfortunately, my local quilt shops do not carry her fabric.  Missouri Star Company

Favorite Appliqué Scissors

Havel's Sew Creative 5-1/2-Inch Curved Tip Sewing/Quilting Scissors-Pink Comfort Grips  I lost my first pair somewhere in the house and had to buy my second pair because these are the absolute best. I can cut closely to the seam and it gives my appliqué a nice crisp look. You can find these scissors “ here ” which I purchased from Amazon.com

Hair Scrunchy

What you will need: *You will need two pieces of fabric. Measuring 18“ x 4“ and 9“ x 4“.  * 6.5“ elastic First cut fabric to size Fold over one end for nice crisp end Fold in half right sides facing each other and sew together leaving the right side open with folded edge. Turn inside out creating a tube.  Pull elastic through the Scrunchy and pin in place and sew elastic ends together.  Tuck ends into each other and sew To add a bow fold the 9“ fabric in half with right sides facing each other.  Sew curved lines on edges and then straight towards the middle, leaving the center open.  Flip inside out through the center hole. I used a bone folder to push it through.  Take the bow piece and tie it around the Scrunchy.

How to cut costs in quilting

Let’s share some of our favorite cost cutting tips so we can all save a few bucks!  Here are 5 of mine: 1) I try to buy precuts from Missouri Star Quilt Co when they are the daily deal. A jelly roll will do a complete lap quilt top. If I can get it for $25 or less, that’s a whole top for that price plus the thread.  2) I try to buy backings from the bargain area of my LQS for $3-4/yard. Or from Marden’s in Maine, for any who live or visit there. They have the 108” for $7.99/ yard.  3) Walmart has seasonal sales on fabric, sometimes as low as $1.00 -$2.00 per yard. Also check Hobby lobby‘s clearance rack in the back of the fabric department.  4) I have occasionally found fabric at my local Goodwill store and / or at Estate Sales.  5) I do check thrift stores and local sale pages for fabrics, mostly to use in collage type wall h...
