Flynn Multi-Frame System

I found this Flynn Multi‑Frame quilting system at an estate sale and couldn’t resist bringing it home. I’ve never assembled one before, so this was a fun little adventure in figuring out how everything fits together. 🔧 Unboxing & Setup Here’s what came in the bundle and how I started putting it together: Rod A & Rod C — These hold the backing and batting. Rod B — This is where the quilt top attaches. Side rails & hardware — These keep everything aligned and rolling smoothly. (Insert your three assembly photos here in a clean 3‑across layout.) 🪡 Attaching the Layers Once I identified the rods, I attached each layer: Backing + batting → Rod A and Rod C Quilt top → Rod B This part was surprisingly straightforward once I matched the rods to the instructions. (Insert the “Attach fabric batting to rod A and C” photo here.) Attach fabric batting to rod A and C Front piece is attached to rod B ⚠️ A quick note about machine size I tried using this setup with my small domesti...

Hapla Group T2f1

🌿 Understanding My Maternal Haplogroup: T2f1 Exploring ancient ancestry through mtDNA I’ve always loved science—genetics, family history, and the stories hidden in our DNA. Learning about dominant and recessive genes, Punnett squares, and blood types has always fascinated me. Recently, I’ve been diving deeper into haplogroups , and it has opened a whole new window into my maternal ancestry. 🧬 What a Maternal Haplogroup Is A maternal (matrilineal) haplogroup is a genetic population group that traces back through your mother, your grandmother, your great‑grandmother, and so on. Because mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is passed down only through mothers, it allows us to follow a single, unbroken line stretching back thousands of years. Haplogroups are labeled with letters and then refined with numbers and additional letters. They don’t tell you about recent relatives, but they do reveal where your ancient ancestors lived long before written records or surnames existed. 🌍 My Haplogroup: T2...

Quote of the day

"You work 8 hours to live 4. You work 6 days to enjoy 1. You work 8 hours to eat in 15 minutes. You work 8 hours of and sleep 5. You work all year just to take a week or two vacation. You work all your life to retire in old age. And contemplate only your last breaths. Eventually you realize that life is nothing but a parody of yourself practicing your own oblivion. We have become so accustomed to material and social slavery that we no longer see the chains.. " Life is a short journey, live it!!

Hoop Organizer

My project was inspired from this Pinterest picture here: The Pinterest one looks much cuter of course- but I needed a bigger one that would hold many more hoops.  It came out bigger and could use more stability on the back.  TikTok

Lace banner

The craft room needed an extra touch, so I added a banner. I purchased a package of 4.5-inch lace doilies from Amazon.com (DECORA 4.5-inch White Round Paper... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018A5T0Z2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) and had more than enough. Then I used my large circle punch to cut a variety of colorful scrap paper. I think it turned out nicely.

How I got started with sewing

My first memory of sewing is trying—unsuccessfully—to hand-sew clothes for my Barbie dolls. I wasn’t very good at it, and honestly, it didn’t feel very promising. Years later, while working at Walmart, I met my best friend, Rachel. She gifted me her Kenmore sewing machine, and for the first time, sewing felt doable. I learned how to sew squares… and successfully learned how to make quillows - and that was about it. In the late 1990s, I became fascinated with Sunbonnet Sue appliqués. I made several, but somewhere along the way—during a move or maybe a yard sale—I lost them. Those were difficult years, and sewing quietly slipped out of my life. Around 2011, my aunt Dagmar introduced me to April L., and everything changed. April re-sparked my interest in sewing, and I took a class with her where I completed a row-by-row quilt —my very first quilt " here ". From that moment on, I was hooked, and I’ve been sewing ever since. Thank you, April, for being a great teacher!
