German Red Cabbage (Blau Kraut)

Red Cabbage



Ingredients;
1 jar red cabbage                                                     ½ c. sautéed onions
2 bouillon cubes                                                      ¾ c. applesauce
1 tbl. Red wine                                                        1/2 cups water
dash sugar                                                               1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon salt                                                         2 whole cloves
1 bay leaf                                                                    
  • Directions:
  • In a pot, sauté the onions and butter first then toss cabbage, apples and onion. Add water, sugar, butter and salt. Place cloves and bay leaf in and remaining other ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour.
