I spent June 13th wrapped in the cozy hum of sewing machines at the Dash of Southern Charm quilt shop. Jeanne and Leslie, our instructors, guided us with such patience and kindness — the kind of teachers who make you feel capable even when you’re learning something new. My mother and my friend Anette joined me, which made the day feel like a little pocket of shared creativity.
We didn’t finish the full project, but that didn’t take away from the joy of the experience. Sometimes the best part of a class is simply being present, stitching alongside people you love, and letting the process be enough.
🌟 Four Things I Learned
Clean the bobbin area — A quick clean every time you change the bobbin keeps everything running smoothly.
Match your thread weights — Using the same thread weight in both the spool and bobbin makes a noticeable difference.
Choose better rulers — Accurate measuring tools really do make the work easier and more precise.
Keep learning from others — No matter how long you’ve been sewing, someone always has a tip that expands your world a little.
