Remembrance Quilt

12/23/2020- I finally finished the binding today and the quilt is 100% complete. Yippee!!!

5/29/20- Adding a border around the front panel- but my old machine just gave out. Might delay the process of finishing it a bit. Today is also my deceased father in-laws birthday. Happy Heavenly Birthday.

5/25/20- Completed the back panel. It‘s a little short on the sides and I will need to extend it out a little more. Added the quote through appliqué method.

5/23/20- Decided to go with all Bear paws on the front panel. I‘m going to add the quote on the back with a an embroidered cross. The cross is made from one of his old shirts with deer print on it- from far away it looks like a marble patterns Cross to me.

5/19/20- Flying geese around the quote. My measurements weren’t perfect, but I think it’s okay. I’m thinking that maybe it needs to go on the inside of the quilt instead of the front.

5/17/20- Remembrance quilt inner border (fly geese)

Using 4” square and two x 2 1/2” squares.

Trying to figure out if I want to add the quote or leave it off. Then add either a flying geese pattern or a solid around it.

It was recommended I try flying geese all the way around, half the size of the current ones I made. Let’s see what that may look like.

Update 5/15/20-

Starting to lay out the blocks for how to put it all together.

Update 2/17/20- It’s been a while since I have touched this project. My other hobbies and projects got in the way. I have quite a few squares completed and asked my husband what size he thinks I should make this. He said a King of course. Not the answer I was looking for, but it’s not impossible. I looked up a sizing chart on Pinterest (thank goodness for Pinterest) and this is what I found:

The chart shows that I will need to complete 90- 12“ squares. I think that I have a little over 12 completed. I am going to be busy with this one for sometime.

2019:

Started my next project. I am finally starting the remembrance quilt that I promised my husband. After my father-laws passing, we were left with a lot of clothing. Instead of throwing it away or donating it to a second hand shop- I thought that if I added the clothing into a quilt it would be more meaningful.

Here is the first block that I completed:

I love how the pieces are coming together! I think these are my new favorite. I don’t have a quilt board (yet), so I use the back of the futon to place the pieces together. Think outside the box - right?
