Join us for our Spring 9-Patch Quilt Block Swap!

This is beginner-friendly and perfect for using up those cute 5” squares.





🌼 How It Works



Each participant will:


✔️ Create 6 simple 9-patch blocks

✔️ Mail them in

✔️ Receive 6 different blocks back from fellow makers!


At the end, you’ll have a sweet sampler of our community’s creativity 💕

✂️ Block Requirements


🧵 Block Size: 12”

🧵 Made using: 5” charm squares or scraps

🧵 Layout: Traditional 9-patch


Use this simple formula:


  • Cut each 5” square 
  • Arrange into a 3x3 grid
  • Sew together


📏 Finished block should measure 12” before quilting

9-Patch Block Swap Instructions



Welcome to our community quilt block swap!

Follow the steps below to create your blocks.

✂️ Your Assignment

Please create:


👉 6 completed 9-patch quilt blocks


Each block must measure:


📏 (12” finished)


🧵 Supplies Needed

  • 5” charm squares OR fabric scraps
  • Rotary cutter
  • Quilting ruler
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread
  • Iron






📐 Cutting Instructions



Take your 5” squares and:


➡️ Cut each into squares


Each 9-patch block needs:


🟦 9 total squares

➡️ So you’ll need 9 squares per block


For 6 blocks = 54 squares


🧩 Block Layout



Arrange your squares into a:


3 x 3 grid


Example layout:


Light – Dark – Light

Dark – Light – Dark

Light – Dark – Light


Mix it up and have fun — scrappy is welcome!


🪡 Sewing Directions


  1. Sew squares into 3 rows of 3
  2. Press seams
    • Row 1 → press right
    • Row 2 → press left
    • Row 3 → press right
  3. Sew rows together
  4. Press flat

✔️ Square your block to 12”

The Low Oxalate Diet

A low-oxalate diet is a diet that is low in oxalates. Oxalate is a chemical found mostly in plant foods. A low oxalate diet can help prevent future kidney stones.  The most common type of kidney stone is calcium and oxalate. The following are low oxalate foods Meat:  All fresh and frozen meats: beef, pork, chicken, turkey; fish and seafood such as flounder, salmon, tuna, shrimp, scallops; and eggs. (Avoid cured meats.)
