Male Guppies

My gorgeous trio! I have a fantastic mix of vibrant colors and distinct patterns swimming together. Based on their body shapes, tail types, and coloration, here is a breakdown of what I have from top to bottom:

1. Top: Tiger / Cobra Endler's Hybrid

The Look: This little guy has a sleek, slender body with a striking, intricate yellow and black pattern that resembles snakeskin or a tiger's coat.

The Verdict: He looks to be an Endler’s Livebearer hybrid (often called a Tiger or Yellow Cobra Endler). Endler's are close relatives to standard guppies but stay a bit smaller and usually sport that distinct, intense patterning and asymmetrical, double-sword tail shape starting to form.

2. Middle: Blue Tuxedo / Blue Neon Guppy

The Look: A classic beauty. He features a dark, solid navy-to-black coloration on the back half of his body (resembling a formal tuxedo jacket) that contrasts sharply with a shimmering, iridescent neon blue dorsal and delta tail fin.

The Verdict: This is a Blue Tuxedo Guppy (sometimes sold as a Blue Neon or Half-Black Blue).

3. Bottom: Tequila Sunrise / Mosaic Fancy Guppy

The Look: This one is a total showstopper with a warm, fiery gradient. He has a pale or silvery body that transitions into a brilliant mix of orange, yellow, and red on his large, flowing delta tail. There are also subtle dark spots or streaks creating a beautiful mosaic texture in the fins.

The Verdict: This is a Tequila Sunrise Guppy or a Red Mosaic Delta Guppy.

They make an excellent group—the contrast between the sleek, wild look of the Endler hybrid and the big, flashy finnage of the fancy guppies looks incredible against the blue background!

With guppies and Endlers, the males are basically the flashy sports cars of the tank—always zipping around, showing off their colors, and trying to impress anyone who will look. The females are more like the sturdy, practical SUVs; they get a lot bigger, have much rounder bellies (especially when they're holding fry), and tend to focus a bit more on just cruising and eating rather than putting on a show.

Fidget Blanket (Fummeldecke) Ideas

This will be my first time ever making a fidget blanket- I was so happy to have the opportunity today to gift my Oma a fidget blanket. I love her with all my heart, it just makes me so sad that not much can be done for her while struggling through dementia. She told me it was beautiful and she appeared to like it. I showed her each square and what she can do with it. The first thing she noticed was the wording; „Mit Liebe Gemacht“ which translates to „Made with love“.  Oma Hildegard is German and I wanted to make sure she would recognize things and always remember that we love her.  What is a Fidget Blanket? Fidget blankets are therapeutic small lap quilts to which different kinds of things are sewn or added on. These items offer sensory stimulation that can have a calming effect on patient who struggle with memory loss. The Fidget blankets help them stay busy avoiding boredom. It provides a means of performing repetitive behaviors that are often reassuring and calming. ...
